What factors should be considered when selecting submersible pump

1.Head selection: Head refers to the height at which a submersible pump can lift water.

Typically, the head should be 1.02 to 1.05 times the actual required head to ensure that the pump operates at a higher efficiency.

For example, if the vertical height from the water source to the water usage point is 20 meters, the required lift is approximately 23 to 24 meters.

When selecting a water pump, the head on the nameplate should be close to the actual required head, with a deviation of no more than 20%, so that the water pump can operate in a more energy-efficient state.

2.Flow selection: Flow refers to the amount of water that a submersible pump can deliver per unit of time.

In agricultural irrigation, the flow rate directly affects the irrigation effect. Generally speaking, it is not advisable to choose too much traffic, otherwise it will increase costs.

For example, household water can choose self-priming pumps with smaller flow rates, while submersible pumps for irrigation require larger flow rates.

3.Power selection: Power refers to the output capacity of a submersible pump, usually determined based on head and flow rate.

Excessive power can cause motor overload, and prolonged operation may damage the motor.

When selecting power, it should be ensured that the power on the water pump nameplate matches the actual demand, with a deviation of no more than 20%.

In addition, when choosing a submersible pump, the following factors should also be considered:

1.Pipeline loss: The pipeline loss of different specifications of steel pipes in different flow ranges varies.

Usually, the diameter of the lifting pipe is slightly larger or equal to that of the pump outlet to reduce pipeline losses.

2.Inlet depth: The inlet of the submersible pump should be submerged 1-2 meters below the dynamic water level, and the lower end of the unit should be kept at a certain distance from the bottom of the well.

3.Economic performance: There is a certain difference between the actual head of the water pump and the outlet head during use, and the resistance loss when the water flows through the pipeline needs to be considered.

In actual use, it can only be estimated based on 80% -90% of the head and flow rate indicated on the label.

By considering these factors comprehensively, a suitable submersible pump can be selected to ensure its efficient and economical operation.
